Questions worth asking.
The IRS maintains published fax numbers for SS-4, 2553, 2848, 8821 and 3115 among others, with instructions current through 2026. The SSA accepts faxed paper forms and documents unless it instructs otherwise, and names fax as the preferred channel for Form SSA-1694. Agency requirements change, so confirm the current instruction for the specific form before relying on it.
